How will Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill restock prospect pool without first round picks?

In a highly uncharacteristic move in the Jim Nill era, the Dallas Stars general manager traded away three first round draft picks in deals to acquire Mikko Rantanen from the Carolina Hurricanes and Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci from the San Jose Sharks. That is a notable departure from Nill’s long-standing policy of holding on to those selections to stock the future roster of the organization. The Stars do not have a first round draft pick in three of the next four NHL Entry Drafts (2025, 2026 & 2028). Sean Shapiro, Craig Ludwig, Sam Nestler, John Andersen & Owen Newkirk discuss the team’s plans for how to compensate for those lack of draft picks. Plus, Carolina GM Eric Tulsky responds to yesterday’s public comments from Mikko Rantanen, the crew takes a look at the Stanley Cup Playoff races in both conferences and the highly-anticipated return of The Damn Discord Channel with Luds.
