Is an Aging Jamie Benn STILL an Asset for the Stars!?

Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn is in his 16th NHL season, having played nearly 1,200 regular season games, scoring over 950 points and 399 goals (as of April 9, 2025). His teammates and coaches all talk about what a fantastic captain he is, describing his leadership qualities with much admiration and praise. In the first half of the 2024-25 season, the 35-year-old Benn scored 12 goals and 30 points in 41 games, on pace for 24 goals and 60 points in a full 82-game season. However, over the second half of the year, Benn’s offensive production has cooled off, just 4 goals and 17 points in his last 35 games – a noticeable drop off (a pace of 9 goals and 40 points over a full year). Craig Ludwig and Owen Newkirk of the DLLS Stars Podcast discuss what they have seen from Benn over the last 2-3 months and breakdown how much of an impact his on-ice game still has for the Stars.
