M-KOPA Solar has provided 750,000 homes in East African villages and towns with small, affordable solar kits - bringing households light, power and communications, and avoiding harmful kerosene and diesel fumes. Through micro-payments, M-KOPA allows customers an affordable approach to ownership and self-sufficiency. Since 2010, Co-Founders Jesse Moore and Nick Hughes, and their growing company, have employed 3,000 people and avoided approximately 780,000 tonnes of CO2.
