#246 - Jonas Van Den Bogaard, Alliander - english intro
The need for development in power grids shares a fundamental theme universally: an increasingly strained situation for connections and significantly more flexibility required from customers. At the same time, societies face enormous investments in these networks, which will be challenging to accomplish in time if we are to meet our climate goals. Consequently, a great deal of innovation is now necessary to understand how power grids can benefit from improved management to not only increase production but also to correctly direct flexibility. How does one transition a power grid that has historically focused on maintenance and physical investments to one that embraces digitalization as a core competency? Jonas van den Bogaard, Digital Lead at Alliander, sees many changes ahead if the power grids are to meet this challenge. He has a clear vision of how we need to collaborate to develop the capabilities that future power grids will require to offer cost-effective and robust power systems.
