Brian Cantwell Smith, Reckoning and Judgment

Brian Cantwell Smith, author of The Promise of Artificial Intelligence (MIT 2019) reflects on the limitations of AI ethics: All we are likely to build, based on anything we currently understand, are systems that reckon. Ethical deliberation, as opposed to ethical consequence, requires full scale judgment, which goes quite a bit beyond such reckoning powers.
