Heat Training for Runners: How to Feel Cooler on Hot Runs and How to Adapt

Running in the heat is TOUGH. We’ve all been there on those hot runs that just feel harder, slower, and well, hotter.  And since heat has a significant impact on our running performance, it’s super important to take the right steps to make sure your training is still solid, that you’re preventing dehydration and overheating, but ultimately, allowing yourself to perform to the best of your capability on the hot runs and races. In this episode, Everyday Ultra coaches and UESCA Certified Ultrarunning Coaches, Joe Corcione and Liz Myers, chat about strategies to help you manage the heat while running. They also discuss how you can optimize your running performance in the heat, how you can adapt your body to better handle heat, and how to apply cooling strategies to regulate your body temperature. Liz and Joe live in Florida and Arizona, respectively, so this is a topic they’ve had to implement nearly every day of running. Thank you so much for listening!
