Episode 30 - a conversation with The Original Dog Whisperer

I had the great honour this week to talk to someone who has been pivotal in my journey from the dark side of dog training towards reward based, dog-friendly dog training. As well as the three excellent books he has already published on living with and teaching your dog, his new book, Training for the Joy of Dogs -Fifty Lessons Learned is available now. Paul, often referred to as the “original” Dog Whisperer, will be celebrating his 50 Year Anniversary as a professional dog trainer. He is one of the leading proponents of positive, force-free, nonviolent animal training. Paul was one of the first of 27 individuals in the world accredited by the prestigious Pet Professional Guild Accreditation Board as Professional Canine Trainer. In 2019, he was recognized as one of the 10 Top Dog Trainers in the United States by topdogtips.com. Paul’s after-school violence prevention program Paws for Peace afforded hundreds of children and dogs the opportunity to build confidence and self-esteem while improving safety and the quality of their lives. Paul is the best-selling author of:The Dog Whisperer: A Compassionate Non-violent Approach to Dog Training, The Puppy Whisperer: A Compassionate, Nonviolent Guide to early training and careDVD: Welcome Home! Ultimate Guide for all puppies and dogs.
