I am excited to introduce today’s Extraordinary Women Radio guest, Lily Nie, a Colorado Women's Hall of Fame Inductee and Founder of Chinese Children Adoption International (CCAI).
Imagine being responsible for placing over 12,000 orphaned children into loving homes. Imagine the ripple effect this had for each child... each family...
This is was Lily has done over the course of her lifetime!
In this episode, Lily shares the story of how she and her husband build the Chinese Children Adoption International to create a ripple effect of change around the world.
Lily is a prominent leader and orphan advocate in international adoption and children service community. As a co-founder of Chinese Children Charities/CCAI, Lily has saved lives of over 12,000 abandoned Chinese children since 1992, mostly girls, by placing them with loving and secure American adoptive families.
And on top of that, Lily has impacted over 70,000 Chinese orphans’ lives by bringing them over ten million dollars’ worth of food, clothes, medical treatment and education support in the past 27 years. She has made it possible for thousands of adopted children and their families to receive post adoption cultural and emotional support through Joyous Chinese Cultural Center she established in 1996.
Through XpressYourself, AdopTween, and Adopteen she initiated, hundreds of adopted children have had the amazing opportunities to develop their character and leadership skills. Her tireless work on behalf of the abandoned children, especially girls, is truly inspirational, transformational, and life changing. In 2003, she received the U.S. congressional Angel in Adoption Award as recognition of her outstanding contribution to the well being of orphans around the world. Today, CCAI is one of the largest and most respected adoption charities in the world that brings healing, hope and home to children in China, Haiti, Bulgaria, Latvia, Ukraine and Taiwan.
Two books have told Lily's stories: Love without Boundary, 2002 by Li Chun Xiu and Bound by Love, 2010 by Linda Droeger. And Lily has been featured on media from around the world, including: ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, Fox, China Central TV, KUSA, KCNC, WHDH, KWGN, Rocky Mountain News, Denver Post, Daily Camera, USA Today, China Daily, and more.
On top of being an inductee to the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame, Lily has a long list of awards including: Who’s Who in Executives and Business in America, Silk Wings Award - Outstanding Asian Women in the U. S. A., Who’s Who - Famous Chinese in China and Overseas, Model Mother – Greatest Chinese Mothers of Colorado, Angels in Adoption – U S Congressional Coalition in Adoption, Colorado Parents of the Year, Women Who Have Changed the Heart of the City - Denver Rescue Mission, #1 Adoption Agency in the World – China Central Authority CCCWA, Alumni of the Year - Phoenix University and the Be More Award – Rocky Mountain PBS!
