#326 - Situational awareness is critical for great UX design

Jon Walter is the Director of Software and Control User Experience at Rockwell Automation. Jon has a passion for designing software user experiences for some of the most challenging environments in the world. In these environments, it's critical to have good situational awareness as it can be a difference between life and death for the users and operators. Jon believes in ruthlessly cutting unnecessary elements like flashy backgrounds, animations, and wrong colors and knowing what "bad" looks like as he designs responsibly. He shares how these manufacturing plant environments are evolving with the newer generations and becoming more multi-tenant solutions. Jon is always looking holistically at users, operators, and maintenance personas and how their multiple workflows interact within the software to serve their individual needs powerfully.
