Cultural Intelligence (Episode Two) Interview with Dr. Oliver Phillips

Oliver R. Phillips, an ordained minister, presently serves as the lead connector at Connexion Pointe in Orlando, Florida. Additionally, he is the executive director of the Connexion Empowerment Center Inc. (CECI); a faith-based non-profit organization in Central Florida. He is committed to the enhancement of Cultural Intelligence as a mitigating factor in intercultural relationships. As a practitioner certified by the Center of Cultural Intelligence, Phillips is experienced in presenting CQ Enhancement Seminars to church leaders, corporate businesses, and educational institutions. Cultural Intelligence is the capability to function effectively in a variety of cultural contexts – including national, ethnic, organizational, generational, and many other cultures. CQ is fast becoming more than simply an option. Individuals with high CQ have the knowledge and motivation to encounter unfamiliar cultural situations, think deeply about what’s happening (or not happening), and make appropriate adjustments to how they understand, relate, and behave there. Making these kinds of adjustments involves a complex set of capabilities and processes that come from the intentional effort on the part of the individual, all of which contribute to the person’s CQ. CQ equips the individual with a complex set of capabilities and processes that enables anyone from outside a culture to more than simply become tolerant of other people. Most professionals agree that organizational change cannot be accomplished unless attention is given to the embedded culture within the institution. Culture has become the “elephant in the room.” What escapes most is that culture provides not only a shared view of “what is,” it can help us understand “why it is” and a powerful shaper of “what will be.” If culture is ignored this notion of “what will be” becomes an elusive dream, leading to despair and dashed hopes.”We introduce you to this dynamic online course (THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM), that is designed to help individuals become culturally competent. Only persons and organizations who possess such competence can “tame the elephant.” Globalization is no longer an emerging phenomenon of the 21st century. Globalization is here! This online course assumes that you have acknowledged that culture is the elephant in the room. You know it’s there because you deal with the results of your endeavors. Unless you tame this elephant or learn to live in harmony with it, the elephant can destroy your organization. This online course will transform your learning environment and will allow students to link and embed their own creations onto their system, so they can create their own digital footprints. It is a fully integrated online academy, and user-friendly.It is easy to navigate, with the user dashboard, a badge of activities, as well as certification at the completion of the course.  This is episode two with Dr. Oliver Phillips.Courses: https://culturephillips.com/course/  To connect with Host Chris Buscher or Co-Host Dallas Monticue visit:Chris' Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/pastor_chris_buscher/?hl=enDallas' Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/dallasmonticue/?hl=en

Om Podcasten

After nearly a decade on the mission field, Pastor Christopher Buscher felt led to produce his very first podcast episode called: The Insufficiency of Christ: when Jesus isn't enough. At a quick glance, this title might seem blasphemous in every way possible. However, after listening to only a few minutes of the episode you’ll completely change your mind. Late one night from Des Moines Iowa, Pastor Chris opened his heart filled with fears, doubts, and a heavy burden for all to hear. He finished the podcast episode with a prayer and a hope for the future of all to hear the Gospel message. Within a few short months, the podcast grew in popularity and a second studio was commissioned in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This second studio would be the home of the co-host and forerunner of Lay Me Down Ministries, Dallas O. Monticue. Together both Pastor Chris and Dallas form an excellent and exciting team from two separate studios thousands of miles apart. Faith & Family Fellowship is a Christ-centered podcast established in 2019 and hosted weekly by Pastor Chris Buscher and Dallas Monticue. Addressing a host of topics such as; The Great Commission, Christian Discipleship, and often featuring interviews with special guests who are experts in their field.
