Every Body Belongs...in Therapy (Part 1)
** Advisory note that content in this episode may not be suitable for children. ** Angela and Emily are preparing to lose their therapy “virginity” on air, but in this episode, we establish a foundation of trust between patient and therapist, Jared Johnson. Jared T. Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), who earned a degree from the University of Utah, where his clinical focus was on Forensics. Jared has worked in the field for over 20 years, and as a clinician for the last 8 years. He has worked in residential and outpatient substance use disorder clinics. The specific therapy types that he uses in his daily work are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Relapse Prevention Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness Interventions/Skills. Jared has been married to his wife Davian for 15 years, who is a REFIT Instructor and loves to share her experience with REFIT with everyone. They have 4 kids: Berlyn, Greysen, Kayden, and Addelyn. Jared begins painting the therapy canvas by answering questions such as: • does everyone need therapy? • are certain people “untreatable?” • what are the different types of therapy? • how do you identify signs of depression? • does Angela need therapy if everyone else is getting it?
