FMOOD 0198: Get a Pet While Getting out of Debt?

Should you get a pet while you're in the process of getting out of debt? Some folks who are currently in the middle of working through their get-out-of-debt plan realize at some point that they long for companionship in the form of a pet. They may feel guilty about purchasing a pet because they know that the pet will be an ongoing expense that may go in the opposite direction of the goals that are currently being worked on.   In my personal opinion, I think that you can get a pet while you're getting out of debt. At the same time, I also believe that it's not necessary to purchase your pet from the overpriced pet store in the mall. There are likely several pet adoption entities in your area, and while you may not be able to get a baby animal such as a puppy, kitten, etc., you can still find companionship in a pet that needs a good, loving home.   The bottom line is this. Make your decision based on your personal considerations that you need to make. Look into all of your options first, and if you find the pet that you like and the expense is workable in your budget, by all means I say go ahead and get your pet. Be realistic and know that you will have ongoing and sometime unexpected expenses with your new family member, but there are also many positive reasons to pet ownership to consider that will likely outweigh the money side of things.   If you know someone who may benefit from this show, please feel free to share it by sending them to http://followmeoutofdebt.com.
