Earl Maneein

Earl shows us how he does his signature hardcore metal bowing riff. We groove hack Metallica‘s ”Disposable Heroes” and talk about finding your place in a band as a string player. Earl talks about growing up in New York and the impact of his mixed classical/metal background. Then we find out how much the Vitamin String Quartet member knows about...vitamins, of course! Disclaimer--there are a few F-bombs and other similar conversational detritus, so sensitive listeners should be advised.

Om Podcasten

For the Greater Groove: The Future of Strings is a collection of chats/jams with some of the leaders in the progressive string playing community. The focus is on grooving and playing rhythm strings, like rhythm guitar. Grooving is the crucial entry point into our popular musical culture and something virtually ignored in traditional classical training. Besides chatting about grooving and related issues, and anything else my guests want to chat about, many shows include a ”Groove Hacker” segment in which we take a groove from a recording and recreate it on strings. And every show ends with a segment called called ”Not My Gig”, a 3 question trivia quiz on a subject the I’m hoping my guest knows nothing about. https://www.tracysilverman.com https://www.strumbowing.com
