In his lustrous career, Kent had carved out a very interesting niche for himself as a community evangelist in the world of data analytics. We will explore the value that community evangelists bring to the industry as independent thought leaders (and why as a data practitioner, you should consider evangelism, too). In Kent's particular story, after many years of being an outspoken Oracle evangelist, Kent turned the full force of his attention to Snowflake, thereby becoming something of a public "Oracle Outcast". DATA ANALYTICS // He is an internationally recognized industry expert in Cloud and Agile Data Warehousing as well an award winning author and speaker in the areas of data modeling, data warehousing, and data architecture. He has over 35 years of experience, including more than two decades designing data warehousing and business intelligence solutions (in multiple industries). He has developed and led many successful software and data warehouse implementation teams, including multiple agile DW/BI teams. AUTHOR // Kent has also written dozens of articles and given hundreds of presentations (both nationally and internationally). He co-authored multiple books related to data modeling including "The Data Model Resource Book" (with Bill Inmon and Len Silverston) and "The Business of Data Vault Modeling" (with Dan Linstedt). He was also co-editor of Dan's book "Super Charge Your Data Warehouse", the technical book about Data Vault Modeling. In addition, he is the author of four Kindle format data warehouse and data modeling related books, all available on Amazon.com. Kent is now working on compiling a foodie photo book with pictures taken during his recent years of travel around the US and the globe while working for Snowflake. MARTIAL ARTS // Kent has been practicing and teaching traditional Chang Hun (non-Olympic) Tae Kwon Do for over 40 years (which is actually longer than he's been doing databases and data modeling).
