Paralysis & Disability Advocates

Ali Stroker made history at the 73rd annual Tony Awards as the “Oklahoma!” actress became the first wheelchair user to win a Tony - which was a huge moment for the disability community in regards to representation. In this episode we talk about paralysis, how people with disabilities are portrayed in movies and discuss the journey of Dr. Cohen’s close friend that is an advocate and champion for disability rights. **GROSS ANATOMY PODCAST IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL ADVICE, DIAGNOSIS, OR TREATMENT. Gross Antaomy is where pop culture and health culture meet. Dr. Jason Cohen and Ali address medical questions that the doc is asked by friends, family, and often strangers. We also love to talk pop culture and how it relates to health and medicine — like celebrity diets, Amy Schumer speaking out about endometriosis and our doctor reviews of medical TV and movies. We also splice in professional interviews, check out our episode with TV writer and The Resident co-creator Dr. Roshan Sethi, or our interview with famous plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Rey aka DR. 90210, and don't miss our Q&A with Miss USA Nana Meriwether and many more!
