Healthcare's Need for High Performance Computing

Most health care sites are using healthcare systems that are several years old. In a recent Healthcare IT Today interview with Dell Technologies and AMD, Harini Malik, Global Strategic Biz Dev Head for Healthcare at AMD, points out that this legacy equipment is insufficient for the new demands of high-performance computing. First, of course, old equipment provides poorer performance than today's systems.  Because the older systems are less energy efficient, they raise power & cooling costs. Newer systems offer more memory and faster I/O, better performance, more power efficiency and better TCO.  Datacenter consolidation is key and the upgrade pays for itself in a few months. It also frees up space to bring in new technologies in to your datacenter Aaron Dinwiddie, Global Account Executive for Epic at Dell Technologies, explains that sites can't always expand their data center to increase their processing power, so they need to bring in more powerful systems.
