New Lenovo ThinkEdge SE455 V3 Permits AI to Run Locally

Lenovo has been famous for their laptops for a long time, but they also have a strong business in computer servers. They offer hardware for data centers as well as edge locations, along with a SaaS style pricing model called TruScale. According to Robert Daigle, Director of Global AI at Lenovo, a new system called the Lenovo ThinkEdge SE455 V3 makes it possible to run compute-heavy tasks such as generative AI in a workplace at "the edge." The SE455 is only half as loud as comparable servers, and can survive at a temperature of 55°C, and therefore can co-exist with people in a typical office or research center. The SE455 is powerful, with 64 cores (AMD 8004 EPYC processors), and energy-efficient. Thus, compute-heavy applications that most organizations used to run in the cloud can be done on-premises.
