A Bad Bet | 2020 | 2/2

In late January 2020, 33 year old Le Quoc Tuan works his way through a maze of shophouses to partake in some alleyway gambling, specifically the popular local game of xóc đĩa, loosely translated as “shake the plate”. Despite a winning start, Tuan would start to go on a series of losses, eventually wiping him out. Undeterred, he would then leave momentarily to get some more money, but would come back with a rifle instead. Part 1 - We delve into the events of the day as it unfolds, from the moment Le Quoc Tuan starts gambling, to when he shows up with a rifle. Part 2 - We explore the bloody aftermath of Le Quoc Tuan's onslaught, as well as the manhunt that ensued to capture the vicious gunman.
