Chapter 6 - The Throwing-Nets - Northern Lights

Her Dark Materials is a bi-weekly podcast hosted by Faye and Rachael discussing the His Dark Materials novels chapter by chapter, spoiler-free. In this episode we chat about Chapter 6 of Northern Lights - The Throwing-Nets. In this chapter, now free from the clutches of Mrs Coulter, Lyra gets caught by the Gobblers (or are they?!) and rescued by the gyptians all in one night. She’s reunited with Ma Costa and meets Billy’s brother, Tony, who tells her a bunch of information about a bunch of different creatures. Lyra FINALLY thinks about Roger when she learns that the gyptians are going north to rescue the kidnapped children and decides to join them to rescue Roger and her uncle Asriel, too. If you want to check out either of the charities we mentioned in the episode, you can find the Albert Kennedy Trust at www.akt.org.uk and the Winter Streets Project at www.winterstreetsproject.org.uk.
