As part of our celebration of Hip-Hop’s journey through the years, artists, cities, events, and stories, we're asking musicians, actors, athletes, and more to share some of their firsts when it comes to the influential and trailblazing genre and culture that is Hip-Hop for Audacy's Hip-Hop Made. Joining in on the celebration and conversation, Oakland Hip-Hop duo Luniz shared their thoughts on the evolution of Hip-Hop. “Look at the barriers we had to climb to get to right now, to where not only Hip-Hop in the United States, but it took over the world," Yukmouth expressed. “It’s the number one genre in the world. You can look at a Nickelodeon commercial that has some type of Hip-Hop in it, a Burger King commercial, everything got Hip-Hop in it.” “But I come from… where Hip-Hop wasn’t cool, they batted the eye at Hip-Hop," Yukmouth continued. “So for Hip-Hop to be the No. 1 genre right now, we accomplished and we proved them wrong.”
