A Dietitian's Perspective on IVF & Nutrition

As a registered dietitian who specializes in helping women naturally overcome hormone imbalances, many clients come to me looking for answers for their fertility struggles. On top of the initial issue of struggling with infertility, there is a ton of misinformation online and even in doctor’s offices. Because of the conflicting and sometimes outdated information, it can be difficult for my clients to decipher which advice is useful, which isn’t, and which will work specifically for their needs.    This is a very important episode that I can’t wait to share with you all. Let’s start by throwing out all the conflicting messages and begin again with the simple things that you can do today. Which is why I am also bringing in my good friend and fellow registered dietitian nutritionist Elizabeth (Liz) Shaw.    Liz is a nationally known nutrition expert and owns a nutrition communications business and private practice in California. She has been a dietitian for over 10 years and is a four-time author, with titles including the Instant Pot Cookbook For Dummies, Air Fryer Cookbook For Dummies, Fertility Foods Cookbook, and The Stress-Free IVF Nutrition Guide! A guest on local and national television, she serves as a spokesperson for many different agencies, discussing the importance of food and nutrition as key players in leading a healthy life through sound, evidence-based nutrition.   This week, I’m talking to Liz about not only her own journey to becoming a mother but also her expert tips as a fertility dietitian and researcher who has published books on the topic. Liz has gone through IVF and the Google black hole that many of my clients go through, so I hope that hearing her journey and her results can help you too.    This Week We Talk About:  How to navigate buzz words like “processed foods” when grocery shopping  The principles of a fertility supporting diet  Liz’s experience with IVF and the stress she went through during her fertility journey  Why fear-based motivation does not work  How to prioritize your health as you grow your family  Why BMI is bullsh*t      Mentioned in this episode PCOS Meal Prep Made Easy Workshop – In this hour-long workshop, I break down what foods you want to include for PCOS and what you may want to consider avoiding or minimizing. Learn my simple 3 step formula for planning meals with PCOS, which includes learning how to eat to balance blood sugar.   Where to find Elizabeth Shaw, RDN   Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Website: https://shawsimpleswaps.com/  IG: @shawsimpleswaps  Facebook: @simpleswaps    Listeners can enjoy 50% off The Stress-Free IVF Nutrition Guide with the code "HormonallyYours50"   Liz’s blog post “IVF Transfer – Preparing For An Embryo Transfer”     Liz’s blog post “What To Eat Post Egg Retrieval During IVF”
