The Velocity of Gary (Episode 65) - Hot Date with Dan and Vicky

The Velocity of Gary was only director Dan Ireland's second directing assignment.  He was primarily a film producer before that, co-founding the Seattle International Film Festival and producing movies for John Huston, Ken Russell and Bernard Rose, many through his role as head of acquisitions at 80's indie house Vestron Pictures.  The film marked his second collaboration with star and producer Vincent D'Onofrio after 1996's biopic The Whole Wide World.  D'Onofrio enlisted famous friends Ethan Hawke and Salma Hayek to co-star and hired realtime newcomer Thomas Jane to play the title role. Dan and Vicky have very strong opinions about The Velocity of Gary and it's attempt to be a provocative rendering of gay New York life in the 80's?  90's?  No one's really sure, least of all the film.  But they have kinder things to say about some recently seen including SyFy horror series Channel Zero and the original Twin Peaks, stand up from Chris Rock and Fred Armisen, and films Lights Out, Tangerine, Tightrope, Killing of a Sacred Deer and The Boys in the Band.   You'll also get a glimpse into what it's like when Vicky's cable box  goes on the fritz and NOBODY can fix it!   Listen to your Hot Date hosts slap a speeding ticket on The Velocity of Gary and then leave us some feedback or a star rating!
