Energy transition in Curaçao and Suriname
Curaçao has long been home to one of the Western Hemisphere’s largest refineries and Suriname is a rapidly rising petro-state. In the 2020s they face considerable challenges in defining their future role in the global energy business and how this relates to climate change and the global energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables. Curaçao and Suriname also face issues related to broader geopolitical developments, including Venezuela’s role in the region and great power competition between China and the United States. This podcast is a recording from a webinar which assembled an expert panel to discuss these issues.
