E08: La Segregación Racial de 1930

Racial segregation of Mexican students in the California public school system during the 1910s and 1920s traces its origins to racial ideologies of Anglo-Saxon superiority from the 19th century. “The Eugenics Movement”, an applied ideology of improving the genetic traits and quality of the human population strongly advocated superiority and inferiority beliefs.In the 1930s racial segregation allowed for the creation of separate white and Mexican schools, with two distinct parallel curriculums: intellectual academic preparation for European American children and manual, agricultural, domestic, decorative, and vocational instruction for Mexican children.
