Masamitsu Shigeta

Masamitsu Shigeta (b. 1992, Tokyo, Japan) lives and works in Hoboken, NJ. Shigeta primarily paints landscapes depicting urban nature and architecture. Shigeta plays with painting conventions by shifting the medium toward sculpture, either by shaping his canvas or utilizing custom artist frames. He holds an MFA from New York University and a BFA from the School of Visual Arts. Solo exhibitions include SITUATIONS, NYC and Tyler Park Presents, LA, who jointly represent the artist. Group exhibitions include The Landing, LA, Chinatown Soup Gallery, NY and Tutu Gallery, NY. His work has been reviewed in The Brooklyn Rail and a publication titled Dancing Plants was released for his most recent exhibition at SITUATIONS.
