Episode 5: Spider-Woman (2009)

CJ and Swara are joined by our friend Britney Monae to discuss the very first Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew! We review her 2009 mini-series "Spider-Woman: Agent of S.W.O.R.D." by Brian Michael Bendis. Who is Jessica, and how can readers and Spider-fans get into her stories when she has so much backstory? Why is the 2009 series such a good place to start, and how does it so effectively relay what Jessica has been through? How is Spider-Woman so distinct from Spider-Man and other Spider-People, in both her origins and powers?  We also discuss the new Spider-Woman comic coming out this week starring Jessica, with a new costume no less, and discuss some exciting developments for Into the Spider-Verse 2. Enjoy! We are a proud member of the But Why Tho? Podcast Network. Follow Into the Spider-Cast on Twitter @IntoSpiderCast and on Instagram @intothespidercast.
