1855 Revisited: Tete de Cuvée Vineyards

17 Nov 2020: Dr Lavalle, author of a celebrated book about the Côte d’Or published in 1855, classified certain vineyards as Tete de Cuvée. Some of these were then and remain now very famous (Chambertin, Musigny, Romanée-Conti) but others have slipped somewhat out of the limelight. This tasting unites six vineyards up and down the Côte which Dr Lavalle rated as tete de Cuvée. Should we take them more seriously now?Wines Samples: 2014 Domaine Paul Pillot Chassagne Montrachet Rouge 1er Clos St Jean2010 Domaine de la Pousse d’Or : Santenay 1er cru “Clos Tavannes”2014 Domaine Marquis d’Angerville Champans, Volnay2010 Domaine Chanson Beaune 1er cru “Clos des Fèves” Domaine Monopole2016 Domaine Joliet Père & Fils, Fixin, Clos de la Perrière2014 Domaine Prieuré Roch Le Clos des Corvees Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier CruThis initiative was set up by the wonderful 67 Pall Mall Club.Watch the video replay here.Subscribe to my website and get full access to my scores, tasting notes, detailed write-ups on producers and much more:https://www.insideburgundy.com/register/See all our events at: https://www.insideburgundy.com/all-events/Daily updates on our Instagram: @insideburgundy@insideburgundy #67fromhome #67pallmall #JMIBLive #JasperMorris #insideburgundy
