Growing up in church I remember hearing the song “I’ll fly away” at least twelve thousand times. The funny thing was, it always sounded so dreary. Who wants to sing about dying? Then one day I just read the lyrics, and I got it! Back in 1929 Albert E. Brumley got a glimpse of what awaited him on the other side of this life and wrote this famous hymn, which has been renewing hope in people since the depression era.
