#278 Rebecca Ryan on Developing Foresight To Make Better Life Decisions

Rebecca Ryan, APF, is an Economist, best-selling author, and founder of NEXT Generation consulting– oh yeah, and she can see the future. In fact, Rebecca can see many futures. As a top 50 professional Futurist, Rebecca partners with private and public sector leaders across the country; looking a generation ahead, she outlines strategies in urban planning, economic development, and workforce development to ensure communities are well equipped for future trends and challenges. But rather than looking through a crystal ball, Rebecca uses strategic foresight to prepare for unknowns.Chock-full of eclectic experiences, Rebecca allows her unique background to inform her work as a Futurist. The lessons learned from her pro basketball days overseas with a team of Hungarian women keep Rebecca on her toes. Her Zen practice keeps her grounded and generous. A proud Wisconsinite, her midwestern roots drive her passion for the community (and cheese). Rebecca has held residencies at the Alliance for Innovation, the Governing Institute, and the Association of Governmental Risk Pools. Her keynotes have reached high-level officials and legislators worldwide and she has been featured as an expert on various national news outlets including NPR, NewsNation, The Business Journals, and Newsy.Rebecca is a graduate of Drake University with a certificate in Strategic Foresight from the University of Houston; she is on the Executive Committee of the global Association of Professional Futurists.
