Federal Appeals Court Rules Against Trump; Announces "Direct Linkage" Between Trump & Capitol Attack

In a remarkably blunt, clear-eyed and forceful legal opinion, a unanimous three-judge panel of the DC Federal Court of Appeals rejected Trump's efforts to hide deeply damaging documents from the House select committee investigating the Capitol attack. Judge Patricia Millett, writing for the panel, stated that there is "a direct linkage between the former president and the events of" January 6. Importantly, the three judges handing down this opinion sit on the very court on which Attorney General Merrick Garland sat for 24 years. The message sent by Garland's former judicial colleagues was unmistakable: Trump is responsible to the events of January 6. Here is a review of where the case likely goes from here.
