From Escaping Two Wars to Becoming a Peace Ambassador

Zoya Miari, a Palestinian-Ukrainian peace ambassador, grew up in a refugee camp in Lebanon amid violence and ongoing conflicts. By 22, she had survived two wars and rebuilt her life in Switzerland, founding Waves to Home, a global movement empowering displaced people through storytelling. Zoya reflects on life in a single-room refugee camp home, fleeing wars in Lebanon and Ukraine, and her mother’s unwavering optimism that taught her to find freedom anywhere. She shares the inspiration behind Waves to Home and the story of a 17-year-old from Gaza who, amidst war and siege, sought to evacuate his family.
