Glenn Sunshine
I've known Glenn for about 18 years. But get this: We've never met. We've never trained together. Our connection was through my research on personal safety and managing fear. About 8 years ago Glenn sent me an email that I have saved and reflected on several times over the years. I would read it at certain courses and events as a reminder that what we do is far deeper than learning how to throw a punch. Here are some excerpts from Glenn's letter to me: "...the most valuable thing I’ve gotten from my distance learning from PDR anyway...it’s the audio tape on dealing with fear. It’s been years, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much of an impact your material had on my kids, filtered in an age-appropriate way through me... Both she and my son have really absorbed a great deal about responding to fear from your teaching; my daughter has been growing in self-confidence, traveling the world (including a 6-month stay in China), and while staying safe has utter fearlessness in confronting challenges and potentially stressful situations. ...again, due to no small measure to your instruction laying a foundation for dealing with fear. ...I’ve benefited as well, of course, but I find myself particularly grateful for the very practical ways you have helped my kids to cope and to develop skills in dealing with life that I wish I had the opportunity to learn at their age." - Glenn
