The industry has been hindered by political inertia and internal divisions, which have limited its growth and modernization. The government anticipates that the industry will expand, creating more opportunities for collaboration with Western companies through joint ventures or supply chain partnerships.The expansion of the Romanian defense market has been hampered by budgetary constraints. While defense spending is increasing, there are challenges related to budget allocation and resource management. Ensuring that funds are efficiently used across various programs can be challenging. There are various challenges in terms of human resources, due to an aging population and migration, and it is hard to find specialists for certain operations. In a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, collaboration among members of traditional and emerging alliances will be crucial in addressing growing threats. Key areas of focus include interconnected systems, innovation, and the necessary infrastructure investment for deploying military capabilities. We believe there is a balance to be struck between investing in conventional versus new capabilities.
