43. Erik Marinovich. Launching Your Career Through a Side Project, Friends of Type, Trusting Your Skills, Having a Personal Venture Capitalist, NuForm and Starting a New Business

In this episode of Open Studio Martina Flor and her guest Erik Marinovich (@erikmarinovich @nuformtype) discuss launching your career through a side project, friends of type, trusting your skills, having a personal venture capitalist, NuForm and starting a new business. Erik Marinovich is a Berkeley based lettering artist and type designer, and is a co-founder of Friends of Type. Since 2009 he has drawn letters, logos and type for big clients like Nike, Target, Google, Hilton, Facebook, Ford Motor Company among others. After over 10 years of running a successful solo business as a lettering artist, he launched NuForm, a type design practice that looks to the culturally offbeat and peculiar oddities to inspire and inform the creation of expressive letterforms. Erik is not only one of the most talented people that I’ve met but also a humble, sweet individual. Detailed show notes: martinaflor.com/podcast
