Professor Weinstein on the Origins of Life
Eric Weinstein, a bioengineering professor at the University of California, Berkeley, discusses his theory that all organisms are ultimately descended from a single ancestor. He argues that the practice of "draffing"—asexual reproduction without fusion of gametes—commonly used by some species of animals and plants, is the most primitive form of reproduction known to us, and can be found in virtually all forms of life.
