Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with Elena Joy Thurston (@pridejoyfound), the founder of The Pride & Joy Foundation, dedicated to reducing the rate of suicide and homelessness in the LGBTQ community. We talk about parenting during COVID, her coming out story as a "late bloomer" and how she dealt with coming out to her children as teenagers. The biggest piece of advice she has for parents is to cut yourself and your children a break and be kind to yourself! We' also talked about the bonds that straight parents of LGBTQ kids have been forming with LGBTQ parents in The Pride & Joy Foundation support groups and that makes our hearts happy!
