086. "Now I enjoy cooking with real, whole foods": Annie

Annie chose to be vegetarian early on in her life, but unfortunately she ate a lot of processed grains rather than fruit and vegetables. She admits that she didn't really know what to focus on at that time."My body never felt great and my mind never really felt great", Annie told me.It took several years of figuring out which way of eating worked for her. She tried several diets, including the keto diet which is heavy on fats and meat, with very little sugar.Living in Wisconsin, Annie gradually became involved in local food systems, farming, and gardening. Her focus shifted to foods that could be grown and sourced locally, which naturally led to a more plant-based diet (although it still includes some meat).Annie's learning about what makes her body feel good - and whole foods are a big part of that. And during the pandemic, like many people, Annie found that cooking at home became a bigger part of her life. But a lot of online recipes are buried in pop-ups and ads and long text, which made it frustrating to use them. So Annie created https://recip.ly/, which is the first ad-free subscription-based recipe platform that is equitable to small creators. Bloggers and recipe developers submit their content to the platform, and get paid on a per-view basis of their recipe. Users can access unlimited recipes with zero distractions, ads, or popups on a subscription basis.Listen to Annie's inspiring story of cutting sugar naturally through adopting a whole foods diet, and how you can use https://recip.ly/ to get all the recipes you need!Get some free resources form Life After Sugar here:Download your simple guide to getting more energy here. Also check out the Life After Sugar Facebook page, and subscribe to my Instagram account and to the Life After Sugar YouTube channel.Ready to get the guidance, support, encouragement and accountability to be able to let go of sugar in a deep and sustainable way?  Sign up to be part of the After Sugar Club here!Plus check out my sponsor, Medicine with Heart, which is an To rate and review this podcast: scroll down in your podcast player on your phone and click on the stars.
