Trauma 101 w/ Lauren Baah

Lauren Baah, trained in EMDR and Brain-spotting, shares with us what trauma is on a neurological level, how it effects our nervous system and why we can't remember things from our past.  This was a very stimulating interview, so if you can, bring a pen and paper and be ready to take lots of notes! My Main takeaways: Trauma results in changes in our brain and nervous system, and there are tools to change our brain back to a healthy state. The more adverse childhood experiences we have (Landmark study referenced), the more likely we are to become addicts of some kind. In order to heal, we need to create a coherant memory of what happened, we need to put the pieces of this memory back together, and once it is integrated, and our emotions, physical body, thoughts and spirit are in harmony - we are healed. This podcast is here to show men how to overcome past trauma and experience emotional freedom so they can create deep, healthy relationships and embody their gift in their work. I believe if we change men we change the world, and the biggest change I see is to have men reconnect with their heart. Men have been taught that feeling emotion makes them "weak", I am here to say that some of the strongest men are tapped into their emotions. And as we learn to tap into our heart, a whole new world opens up that is filled with creativity, depth, joy, abundance and a true sense of freedom.
