S1 Ep24: Moving On From Leroy Sane

With the expected departure of Leroy Sane, Manchester City will have to bring in a winger to back up Raheem Sterling and join the attacking rotation. Kevin Nelson and Andrew Dettmer did the research and identified three targets the club should be looking at in future transfer windows to fill this void. In this episode of the Maine Road Ramble, we provide in depth, analytical breakdowns on all three of these players and give insight as to why they are the proper players to join City.  If you are unfamiliar with this Transfer Wish List series, it is essentially a thought exercise on what we would do if we were in charge of the club. We evaluate a position group to first see if there is a need for an incoming transfer, and if so, which players we think best fit that need on an analytical, tactical, and qualitative level. The players we evaluate are not only ones who have had rumored linkages to City, though some of them have. Kevin and Andrew simply find the roster construction aspect of football to be one of the more fascinating and complex ones so they are putting that interest to work! This particular episode identifies Ajax's David Neres, Roma's Justin Kluivert, and Norwich City's Emiliano Buendia as transfer targets City should have their eye on to replace Leroy Sane. All three are young, yet with experience at a high level, and could probably be bought at a good value. Not to mention, they all have a very clear fit in City's current tactical set up.
