EP 35 - GROOMING & CSE | risks for young people with Alisha - Senior Practitioner in Social Work
Grooming & CSE risks what does this mean in Social Work and how do Social Workers safeguard. Did you know that “children and young people can be groomed online, in person or both – by a stranger or someone they know. This could be a family member, a friend etc ?” (NSPCC, 2020) Has an older male ever “moved to you” & you thought you were buff ? But never asked why does he want me ? Is being 16 enough to have sex with a young person? Do you know how easily you can be exploited, especially where the is an age gap? Did you know how difficult it is to charge a “perpetrator” ? Gang members exploit young males too - even sexually! In this Ep we discuss how young girls are groomed by older males & how easily it can occur. We unpick the detrimental impact this could have on the young person and how significant sexual health is. Alisha highlights the importance of being TRUSTWORTHY & PROTECTIVE PARENTS. This Ep is triggering - but it’s REAL LIFE! The examples raised are all true & we have kept anonymity to for the purposes of safeguarding.
