Episode 11: Alicia de los Reyes | DIY writing retreats, rejection, and being a real writer

Today, we have the pleasure of talking to writer Alicia de los Reyes about making time to write no matter what your circumstances are, and how she was able to take the rejection of her first novel and use it to grow as a writer. Alicia is a writer based in Seattle, WA, where she lives with her husband, son, and cat. She has her MFA from University of New Hampshire. Her nonfiction has appeared in The Archipelago, The Billfold, and others, and her fiction has been published in Best New Writing 2015. She is represented by DGLM and at work on a novel. You can find out more about Alicia at aliciadelosreyes.com, and as @likesoatmeal on Instagram. Listen to her podcast Scratch Paper on iTunes or on Stitcher, or at her website. Om Podcasten

For writers and creatives with day jobs they enjoy. Marginally is about supporting and encouraging people for whom writing – and all forms of creative pursuit – is part of a full life, not the only life. We’re not trying to have it all, but we do have a lot to do. We have day jobs, caring responsibilities, and other life commitments that are important to us. Maybe we don’t aspire to write full time. Maybe we do. Maybe we are on a longer journey to that destination, and we’d like you to join us.
