Pilots & Witnesses; Systematic UAP Reporting for Pilots - with Alex Dietrich | Merged Podcast EP 14

This episode is a pilot to pilot discussion with Lieutenant Commander Alex Dietrich (US Navy, Ret.). Join Alex and Ryan in conversation about post pilot life, the impacts of their experiences after publicly discussing the UAP (UFO) topic, and their aspirations for a systematic reporting process for pilots who may be having similar experiences.  === Lieutenant Commander Alex Dietrich (US Navy, Ret.) served as one of the nation’s first female strike-fighter aviators as a F/A-18 pilot from 2001-2021. She flew in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). She has since taught leadership, ethics, and critical thinking at the George Washington University, U.S. Naval Academy, and now serves on the faculty of the University of Colorado School of Engineering in Boulder. Alex is an advocate for Legacy Flight Academy, a foundation that promotes diversity in aviation, and Wings for Val, supporting women in aviation. Alex is also currently part of the Aircrew Leadership Council for Americans for Safe Aerospace. === Ryan Graves: AIAA UAP: https://www.aiaauap.org Twitter: @uncertainvector Connect with Us: Website: http://www.mergedpodcast.com Merged Point: https://www.mergedpoint.com  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

MERGED is a platform to enable the mainstream exploration of UAP through the lens of pilots, scientists, and innovators.  Ryan will host discussions on UAP that prioritize scientific inquiry and maintain an open-minded approach. In addition to exchanging ideas, MERGED will serve as a conduit for identifying technologies, companies, and individuals that can contribute to the ecosystem of UAP research and understanding. Ryan Graves is a former pilot who flew the F-18 Super Hornet fighter jet. In 2014, he and his colleagues regularly encountered unidentified aerospace phenomena (UAP) off the coast of Virginia Beach. These sightings were so frequent that they had to cancel training missions. By 2021, there have been 11 documented near misses with UAP. The MERGED Podcast is here to explore this phenomenon and the efforts to understand it through the perspective of pilots, scientists, and innovators. Ryan believes that the UAP phenomenon is an engineering problem and that a rational, science-first approach is needed to explore it.
