S14 Ep4: AMY DOWDEN ON HAVING CROHN’S DISEASE, HER BATTLE WITH CANCER AND RAISING AWARENESS

This week on the @Monday_mile_series, I’m joined by a lady who defines the word inspiration, @amydowden! Known best for her time on @bbcstrictly as a professional dancer, she is the perfect demonstration of resilience and determination, she’s far more than the glitz and glam of the ballroom. Amy was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at a young age, we chat about her battle with the disease, how it affected her early career in dancing and how she fought to not let it continue to do so. Amy was also diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 and is now a fierce advocator for early checks and proactive healthcare. We chat about her cancer journey; she shares the terrifying story of how she contracted sepsis and was fighting for her life. She also shares how important it is for her to use her platform to spread awareness and support others who are going through the same thing. It was an absolute pleasure to have you, Amy!  Listen now on all podcast platforms or watch on YouTube   Sponsored by #Michelin CrossClimate tyres https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/tyres/michelin-crossclimate-2
