Ep. 8: Performer-Composer Ben Finley, for a while with Samantha Clark

Welcome to Episode 8 of Westben’s Podcast Music for a While! This week we are giving Brian & Barb a bit of a break. You may recognize my voice from the start and end of previous episodes of our podcast. My name is Samantha Clark & this week I am very grateful to be moving into the hot seat today to talk with a very interesting guest, Ben Finley.

Ben is the creative director of the International Performer Composer Residency. He is an incredible bassist & composer who has studied at U of T, CalArts, the Banff Centre and is now working on post-graduate studies at the University of Guelph. Ben grew up in Campbellford and part of his childhood farm grew into what we now know of as the Westben Barn.

This episode we dive in to Ben's history as a Bass player & then take a closer look at the origins and evolution of the International Performer-Composer Residency that goes into showcase on July 6th at www.westben.ca/pcr

This podcast has grown into a vehicle for musicians who record Digital Concerts at Westben, to express their trials and successes as performers during a global pandemic. Listen today to hear from Canadian artists like harpist Valerie Milot, singer/songwriter Barbra Lica, cellist Brian Manker, songwriter Jordan Mowatt and many more!
