How to fit infinite learning into your finite day. Personal stories about creating new routines. Part 1

The question that students ask is "How long exactly will this take?"How long will it take to achieve native-like fluency? How many exercises a day precisely do I need to do to get there? How much time will it take per day?Yes, mastering a skill is an infinite process. But how do we fit this infinite learning process into a very finite day that we all have? When people say they're ready to commit, but they're not sure what this journey will look like... they're not really ready, and that's why they do not commit. Some do not begin because they're afraid they won't be able to commit. In the first part of this podcast, I'm sharing personal stories that lie behind acquiring new skills and building new routines. How I build my fitness routine. How I run and why I do it. How I learn a language... All these activities have been in my life for at least a decade. Once I started, they seemed overwhelming. I wanted to achieve a lot but had a limited resource - time. The same applies to language learning. Once you're already fluent, you want to keep going. You feel that the more you know the more there's to learn for you. Once you accept that this is a lifetime journey, it makes sense to include very tangible and concrete activities/exercises in every one of your days. That's what this episode is about.Enjoy and share your stories and questions in the comments.Let's chat on Instagram - @nataliatokarrMy website - courses.nataliatokar.me/

Om Podcasten

Hi, I'm Natalia Tokar, and I am not a native speaker.I created the methodology and the system of exercises to achieve native-like fluency in English because I couldn't find it anywhere. I've always been driven by the idea of effortless mastery and virtuosity. I learn new skills with one simple idea in mind - I want to be able to apply them in my everyday life situations, specifically in my spontaneous conversations with native speakers. To do so, I need to master the fundamental skills of building relationships in a foreign language. Native-like fluency is all about being able to be yourself and belong with others in every conversation, because every conversation is an opportunity to nurture the relationship.I say that effort must be effortful, where effort brings joy. My approach is based on following deliberate practice routines and receiving human feedback. Become a daring learner who can learn directly from the source and seek feedback from more advanced learners. When you know how you learn, you can create your own curriculum. I am an educator with 17 years of teaching experience and a creative business owner with 10 years of experience in global sales & cross-cultural communications.I share the methodology and my own practice routine in the community of practice and in the online programs that I create. WebsiteCommunity Hosted on Acast.
