Afghan Bees Producing More Than Honey

Risking (and not entirely avoiding) a million little stings – NATO Channel heads into the Afghan countryside to meet the bee-keepers who are doing more for Afghan agriculture than simply producing honey. Honey, wax, fruit pollination and venom - the benefits to beekeeping in Afghanistan are wide and varied. In some of the southern provinces, national and international bee-keeping initiatives are encouraging opium farmers to switch to bees, and with projects and grants aimed at training and assisting bee-keepers, bees are doing far more for Afghan agriculture than just producing honey. Produced by Jake Tupman. This version includes voiceover and graphics.
