44. How to make space at the top for female leaders.
On today's show I am talking about how companies can start to look at things differently especially when it comes to women's career progression. There have been many excuses for not having women on boards within companies and we unpick them and start to challenge some of the traditional setups that companies have that have kept women away from the top. Some companies on the face of it look like they don't have any room at the top for new female leaders but I say ‘let's make some room’ and how that can work in practice and the benefits to companies as well as employees. Let’s not be as linear and and think outside the box instead. This episode is for anyone working in a company who has responsibility for driving female leadership forward and also for anyone who thinks that they’ve done enough already in this area. There's always room for more. Listen in and get in touch with me to let me know your own experiences of this and even better those companies that are doing this really well. We need those companies to be in the spotlight to showcase what can be done when everyone is on board for gender parity in the workplace. “Let’s bust a few myths right now about why women aren't securing the tops spots” - Gemma “While this looks like a tough situation for any company to be in who are really keen to reduce their gender and ethnicity pay gap it’s not the roadblock that it first appears to be” - Gemma “Why bother getting more women on the board or having more women in senior positions? Here are a few reasons I can think of….” - Gemma “If you have ALL the same people on the board year after year then even though you argue that it’s working as the business is a success - it could be even better if injected with different and fresh perspectives.” - Gemma Book a call with Gemma: http://bit.ly/CallGemmaPodcast More info about the 1-1 No More Hiding 12 month Coaching Programme https://bit.ly/NMH12Pod Get the White Paper ‘Visibility at Work: The Importance of Self Promotion for Women’s Career Progression https://bit.ly/WP2020podcast Connect with your host Gemma Stow: Website: https://www.gemmastow.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gemmastow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/gemmastow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iamgemmastow/ #nomorehiding #leadership #selfpromotion #femaleleaders #leadershipdevelopment
