9: Frida Kahlo and Jane Addams

Lynn tells us about Frida Kahlo, a famous Mexican artist whose tragic life story was just about as popular as her art. She was the first female artist to outwardly express her pain and suffering through self-portraits. Then, Rose tells us about Jane Addams, an American settlement activist, reformer, social worker, sociologist, public administrator and author. Jane contracted tuberculosis of the spine at age four and suffered a lot of pain throughout her life, but she didn’t let that stop her from becoming the first female to win the Nobel Peace Prize!Photo - Self Portrait with Hummingbird and Thorn NecklacePhoto - The Broken ColumnPhoto - Diego and IPhoto of Frida KahloFrida Kahlo - WikipediaFrida Kahlo | Biography, Paintings, & Facts | Britannica (Photo)Frida Kahlo biography9 facts about the life of Frida Kahlo | ArumaPhoto of Peace Sign - Jane Addams Day - Making Lineages Visible — Jane Addams Hull-House MuseumPicture of Jane Addams - Jane Addams - Hull House, Sociology & Quotes - BiographyJane Addams | Biography, Accomplishments, Significance, Hull House, Books, & Facts | BritannicaJane Addams | National Women's History MuseumJane Addams - WikipediaJane Addams - Biographical Thank you to our sources!
