Can green be fair?

The world urgently needs to move to green energy for the sake of the climate. But what if scrapping fossil fuels means that you lose your job or face rising living costs? Tradeoffs like these pose a major dilemma for the politicians, activists, and businesses leading the green transition, who are now asking how the switch to cleaner energy can be made fair. In this episode, we look at the efforts now being made especially in the Nordic countries and Japan to make the impact of climate action more equal and we examine how far the world has come in reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goals for access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all by 2030. This episode comes from a Nordic Talks live event organized by the Nordic Embassies and the Nordic Innovation House in Tokyo, Japan.
