Julia Riew and the Making of the First Korean Disney Princess Shimcheong

Growing up Juia Riew dreamed of seeing a Disney Princess that looked like her… so she created one. The Korean-American Harvard graduate went viral after posting a clip of her animated princess Shimcheong on TikTok. Soon calls around the world to make musical a reality followed. In this interview, Julia opens up about growing up one of the few Asian Americans in the midwest and how it inspired her script and songwriting today. She also shows us how she becomes the Korean Disney Princess in a snap. We talk about about how her life has changed since that one post and what’s next.
